Botanical Plaster casting workshop
In this workshop you will be guided in the process of making beautiful botanical art tiles which capture the fine details of the plant specimens you've chosen. At the end of the workshop you will have all the knowledge and confidence required to continue exploring this lovely process at home.
In the morning we will talk through the creative process, looking at some example pieces and discussing how we create balanced compositions and capture detail. Where location allows we will head out for a local walk to collect some foliage which we will use in our work.
We will then work alongside each other to create our compositions in clay, frame, mix and pour our plaster. After lunch we will move onto decorating and finishing our pieces including demolding, sanding, adding pigments and hanging. The tiles make really lovely gifts or keepsakes and can be framed, displayed on a small easel or simply hung as a beautiful minimalist piece.
My aim is to make the day relaxed, fun and informal. The workshop would suit an individual looking to learn something new, a group of friends looking to share some quality relaxing time together or perhaps to celebrate a special occasion such as a hen do or birthday.
This workshop is open to adults (16+) and can be held at the Tilly and Roo Studio in Foyers or at an alternative venue such as your own home.
Accessibility information
Due to the constraints of the studio layout and the original stable flooring the workshop space may present challenges for mobilising in a wheelchair. Please contact me to discuss workshop accessibility so that I can provide more detailed information or explore alternative venues.
